This course explores the intrigue of sense making and storytelling in the humanities and sciences. It engages with our intelligence of devising stories and interpretations by way of revisiting key contexts of theory making found in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It observes how certain philosophers, artists and scientists managed their trades across such buzzing areas as: (1) interpersonal, interspecific and intercultural communication; (2) fantasy and dream interpretation; (3) the relation between animals and humans; (4) chance and strategy formation. All in all, this course enables students to cherish the interpretive aspect of knowledge formation that actually demands our constant and persistent dealings with clues, memories, experiences and unique observations.
